American Legion Post 197 provides a friendly canteen atmosphere where you can swap stories or discuss life, the Constitution, the greatest nation on earth, and everything in between.

Located right in downtown WaKeeney, KS, our spacious hall is perfect for weddings, receptions, banquets, birthday and retirement parties, concerts, dances, business meetings and more!

The American Legion was chartered and incorporated by Congress in 1919 as a patriotic veterans organization devoted to mutual helpfulness. It is the nation’s largest wartime veterans service organization, committed to mentoring youth and sponsorship of wholesome programs in our communities, advocating patriotism and honor, promoting strong national security, and continued devotion to our fellow servicemembers and veterans.
Please join us at our next gathering. We meet at the WaKeeney Moore Post #197 on the 2nd Monday of each month (Sep – May). Dinner starts at 6:30pm, and after we have filled up with good food and conversation, the American Legion Moore Post #197 meets to discuss post business and plan events. We look forward to seeing you at our next American Legion meeting on Monday, September 12 at 6:30.
